SOCCER POSITION COACHING


GOALIES & DEFENDERS

Defenders and goalkeepers are responsible for stopping opponents from scoring goals, thus allowing their team to win games.  Perfect Performance will give players in these positions the skill set to perform their roles to the best of their ability.  Perfect Performance will work with our goalies and defenders on the following:

Goalies

• Body positioning
• Hand eye coordination
• Ball handling
• Reaction footwork
• Lateral footwork
• Ball distribution (throwing, drop kicking, goal kicking)

Defenders

• 1 v 1 stance
• Positioning in various formations (flat back 4, 3 defenders, sweeper, etc)
• Ball winning
• Distribution to midfielders and forwards
• Marking (zone and man)
• Tackling
• Heading
• Dribbling
• Jockeying
• Distance Passing
• Driving and Curling the Ball

After training with Perfect Performance, goalies and defenders will:

    • • Defend with greater anticipation
    • • Clear the ball with confidence

MIDFIELDERS

Midfielders link the defense and midfield to the forwards, making them a vital piece to the success of the team. Perfect Performance will teach midfielders the skills that will lead them to success in what is often the most dynamic position on the field.  Perfect Performance will train our midfielders in the following skills and concepts:

• Combination play
• Crossing/flank service
• Dribbling
• Long distance shooting form
• Long distance passing
• Passing
• First Touch

After training with Perfect Performance, midfielders will:

  • • Shoot the ball more accurately
  • • Pass the ball more effectively
  • • Have better field awareness

FORWARDS (Strikers and Attackers)

Forwards are the offensive engine for the team.  Their primary focus is to score goals. Perfect Performance will work with our forwards to give them the attitude and confidence to score goals using the following skills:

• 1 v 1 moves
• Ball work
• Footwork (dribbling and moves)
• Runs (understanding getting to and creating open space)
• Combination plays in tight spaces
• Finishing (goal shooting and accuracy)

After training with Perfect Performance, forwards will:

  • • Control the ball with greater authority
  • • Create scoring opportunities without the ball
  • • Be more efficient in front of the goal
  • • Receive the ball with greater confidence
